TEAM UGANDA 2008
Team Uganda will be leaving July 8th for a 2 week trip. As last year, the team will be spending most of their time at Bethel Covenant College (High School) and Bethel Jr. School near the capital city of Kampala . Bill will be expanding the computer network and lab established during our 2006 visit. We are excited that Jeff Oberholtzer will be joining the team this year. Jeff is a computer and networking professional from Orange county that we met last year in Uganda. One of our goals this year will be to upgrade the computer network using low power technology that is better suited to the conditions in Uganda. This will mean starting to move away from less expensive used equipment to more reliable new computers that will better serve the students and staff. We hope to develop a model that we can then use to possibly expand to other locations. Jeff and Bill are starting to develop a vision to come along side some of the young men we have met in Uganda who desire to pursue computer technology as a career. We also desire to continue the process of training the staff, teachers, and students at Bethel to use and maintain the lab.
The rest of the team will be involved in ministry at the schools and the surrounding area. Opportunities to serve include sharing at school chapels, one on one and small group counseling with students, encouraging and supporting staff, and involvement in ministry with local pastors. The team hopes to travel to a church and medical clinic in Kasega and the Amazing Grace Infant School (Tree School).
